Ballyhoura Development is committed to providing training, marketing and capital supports to new and established businesses in a wide variety of business sectors.
In addition to the supports provided under the programmes we administer, Ballyhoura Development have experienced business staff that are available for consultation and advice. They will advise and guide you in areas such as business planning, how to approach a business startup or expansion, how to leverage funds and who to contact for further supports.
We work closely with agencies such as the Limerick County Enterprise Board and the North Cork Enterprise Board to help clients to receive the best support available to them.
We offer grants under the Rural Development Programme for innovative rural businesses (who do not have direct competitors in the local area). Capital support (for equipment etc.) is available at 50% of total costs up to a maximum of €150,000. Support for Research and Development is available at 75% up to €30,000. We can only grant aid purchases that have been made after grant approval.
We also help individuals who are unemployed to start their own business by offering advice and mentoring support. We will also help you to apply for the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance, which may allow you to keep some of your social welfare payments while starting a business.
We have a specific strategy to support food businesses in the Ballyhoura area. Training programmes in the food business area are run regularly, and capital support is available to new or expanding food businesses.
To encourage the development of the rural economy, we run special initiatives to encourage entrepreneurship, such as the Ballyhoura Dragons.
