Ballyhoura Development is committed to creating vibrant rural communities throughout the Ballyhoura area. To this end, we are committed to supporting and facilitating individuals and communities to work together to develop skills, services and facilities that will improve the quality of life for all inhabitants of the area.
Our community development strategy facilitates communities to:
- Identify their needs;
- Develop the skills necessary to address their needs;
- Access services and resources to meet their needs;
- Form groups and networks;
- Raise awareness of the issues of specific groups within the wider community.
An important element of our community development work is the outreach service provided by our Community Development team, which enables us to provide direct support to target groups and communities throughout the Ballyhoura area. The Community Development Officers work directly with communities to provide supports across a range of projects, all aimed at strengthening and enhancing the community fabric of the area and on ensuring the inclusion of socially excluded groups and individuals in the activities and development of local communities.
Our work includes:
- Supports to Community Groups;
- Promoting Social Inclusion;
- Rural Development;
- Combating Isolation;
- Migrant Services;
- Community Socio-Economic Action Planning;
- Active Citizenship & Volunteering.
